US West posts 9% rise in 2nd-quarter earnings

Article Abstract:

US West Inc. posted an improvement of 9% in its earnings for the second-quarter of 1999. The company was helped by strong growth in its expanding wireless and high-speed data businesses. For the quarter, US West posted $421 million (400.8 million euros). This comes out to 83 cents per share. During the same period in 1998, US West posted $385 million or 76 cents per share.
