Article Abstract:

International Monetary Fund officials have warned that the continuing US deficit could slow economic growth by reducing investment, increasing interest rates and drying up limited savings. The France-based Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development believes taxes will need to be raised before the budget can be balanced.

Fed's Kohn says it's too early to relax inflation concerns

Although a recent slowdown in inflation is encouraging, Federal Reserve vice chair Donald Kohn feels that it is too soon to start lowering interest rates. The housing market is still uncertain, and the recent reducation in inflation may be due to temporary factors like lower energy costs.

U.S. may be losing its appeal to foreign investors, report warns

According to the recently released Economic Report of the President, foreign investors are losing interest in investing in the United States. National security concerns amongst both Congress and the American public are cited as one possible reason for this trend.
