University challenge: in designing the new University of Lincoln, RMJM had to deal with major site constraints, a fast-track programme and an overriding need for flexibiltiy

Article Abstract:

RMJM, architects, designed the new University of Lincolnshire and Humberside, from a brief calling for academic, staff and technical accommodation for 1,500 students. The building had to be flexible to meet changing needs and required a strong visual identity. It is built as a series of modules with vertical cores and stairs at perimeter edges. An internal street and high level bridges link the modules together. The construction comprised precast concrete.
