Using the sum-of-uniforms method to generate correlated random variates with certain marginal distribution

Article Abstract:

The usage of sum-of-uniforms method for generating sequences that correlate random variables with certain marginal distribution is analyzed. Such simulation experiments help in analyzing and resolving problems related to operations like maintenance shops where arrival of parts are inspected at the first point and defects are identified at the second point. Thereafter, the time for obtaining inventory for replacing defective part takes a longer time and inventory demand varies.

Algebraic properties of location problems with one circular barrier

Article Abstract:

The location problems with barriers are considered and new structural results are developed to show that the set of feasible solutions can be subdivided into a polynomial number of cells of algebraic invariance. Improved and exact solution procedures based on convex optimization methods are implied by the results.
