Continental sets Ford systems pact

Article Abstract:

German automotive parts manufacturer Continental AG is to supply Ford Motor Co. with electronic stability-control systems for the automaker's four top-selling sport-utility vehicles. The control system and a rollover prevention system being included in the deal are considered major safety beakthroughs for SUV design. Continental AG stands to benefit from the use of these systems in the U.S.

New generation of cardiac stents awaits FDA approval: questions about safety could slow agency's review; addressing clotting issues

Article Abstract:

Medical equipment manufacturers have developed safer drug-eluting cardiac stents, which are awaiting U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval. The possibility of these devices causing life-threatening blood clots is still being investigated.

Germany caps weak year in new-car registrations

Article Abstract:

The number of new vehicle registrations in Germany fell in December 2007, decreasing by 20% to 243,000. The result lowered the expected full-year registrations for 2007 by 9% to 3.15 mil.
