VRAM High-density memory under test

Article Abstract:

Nonvolatile Electronics Inc is testing and debugging a new type of digital memory which will be presented in a prototype Vertical Giant Magnetoresistance Ramdom Access Memory (VRAM) array. The VRAM array will be fully integrated wtih silicon-based electronics. It has the ability to replace all mechanically driven storage media including compact discs and computer hard drives. It should lead to a 100- to 1,000-fold increase in storage capacity compared with semiconductor memory.

US Marine Corps tests wearable computer

Article Abstract:

A small yet rugged End User Terminal that incorporates a full-function computer is being tested by the US Marine Corps. The product is based on a Pentium processor which enables it to run the Windows NT operating system. It has a 15cm touch-screen color liquid-crystal display and is attached to the Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment vest of the wearer. Its applications include acting as a ground station for micro air vehicles.

Article Abstract:

Tactical Automated Security System (TASS) is a modular, self-powered intrusion-detection and assessment system. The system detects incursions into protected areas, determines the strength and composition force and directs an appropriate response. TASS is composed of five major elements: sensors, data communications, annunciators, assessment devices and power supplies. Various TASS which are available in the market are described.
