Vickers and Benson Advertising is an advertising agency based in Canada that was established in 1924. As of Dec 2000, the company employs a staff of 220, and maintains offices in Toronto, Ontario, Montreal Quebec, and Chicago, IL. The agency, an affiliate of Havas Advertising, has six divisions, namely Vickers and Benson Direct and Interactive, Maxxmedia, Warwick and Associates, Southside Digital Communications, Day Advertising Group, and CanPacific Group. In 1999, the firm posted revenues of $30.1 million.

The temptation to trade up

Article Abstract:

Advertising agencies are cautious when it comes to dropping an existing client in favor of a new and bigger customer because the industry is built on trust and loyalty. Relationships, which tend to be long-term, are essentially business partnerships that are considered to be more valuable than any opportunity that might arise at any moment. However, ad agencies do drop clients as in cases of worldwide account realignments and the mutual decisions of the two principals.

Olympics unplugged

Article Abstract:

International Business Machines Corp said the 2000 Sydney Summer Games will be the last time that the company will be the technology sponsor of the quadrennial spectacle. Elizabeth Primrose-Smith, the company's director of worldwide Olympic and sport operations, said the company and the International Olympic Committee disagreed on how much IBM should giant in exchange for marketing rights.
