Vicos investiert 10 Mio. DEM

German Vicos Nahrungmittel GmbH is to invest a total of DM 10mn in its Belarus subsidiary Vicos Schokoladenfabrik of Witebsk to set up a second production line for chocolate nut cream. In September and October of 1998 new warehouses and conveyor belts to fill the cream into jars will be installed. The new facility is to increase the production of currently 2.500 t of chocolate cream per month by 30%. According to Vicos, 10% of the production is sold in Belarus, 90% in Russia. *

The Charbonnel et Walker operation has seen considerable growth recently under Galvin Weston. It has purchased the four stores in London, England, of Bendicks, and has also opened new outlets in the Maxwell and Kennedy luxury chocolate chain. The company is keen to differentiate itself from the mass chocolate market, and is therefore focusing on chocolate as a gift item. Its stores sell only small volumes, but have very high margins.

The German automotive industry supplier ZF Friedrichshafen AG of Friedrichshafen aims to benefit from the booming bus market in China through its new subsidiary ZF Drivetech (Suzhou) Co Ltd. The new fully-owned subsidiary based in the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park near Shanghai is to become operative at the beginning of 1999. It will market the German parent's components such as 6-speed transmissions for buses. *
