Virgin to team with Singapore Airlines

In a high priced deal Singapore Airlines will invest 600.3 million (pounds sterling) or 955.4 million (euros) in Virgin Atlantic, parent of Virgin Atlantic Airways, giving Singapore a 49% stake in the last privately held European airline.

JAL to acquire JAS in deal designed to help cut costs

Japan Airlines (JAL) has reached a deal to acquire Japan Air System (JAS) in a deal that will help both airlines to reduce their costs. The newly merged entity would hold 48% of the airline market in Japan.

Hawaiian airline merger gets positive reception

Hawaiian Airlines Inc. has reached a deal to merge its operations with those of Aloha Airlines. The merger between the two struggling airlines has been given a value of about $170 million.
