Vivendi CEO: Universal Music is not for sale

Article Abstract:

Jean Bernard Levy has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Vivendi Universal S.A., succeeding Jean-Rene Fourtou, and has announced that subsidiary Universal Music Group will not be put on the block. The operating income of Universal Music Group has soared five fold to $436 million in 2004 and the first quarter of this year revenue rose 6 percent to $1.3 billion. Vivendi Universal S.A. revenue rose 9 percent to $6.1 billion.

Vivendi chief takes on French critics

Article Abstract:

Vivendi Universal S.A.'s chairman, Jean-Marie Messier, announced that he has chosen someone from France to replace him in the event that he can no longer perform his duties. Messier was attempting to respond to criticism that Vivendi was becoming overly Americanized.

Vivendi's Bronfman quits, leaving Messier alone at top

Article Abstract:

Vivendi Universal S.A.'s vice-chairman, Edgar Bronfman Jr., has offered his resignation a year after the sale of Seagram to the company. Jean-Marie Messier will takeover as the head of Vivendi.
