Vivendi deal with Oger falls apart in talks

Article Abstract:

Negotiations between French mass media company Vivendi S.A. and Saudi Arabia's Oger Ltd. over a stake in Oger Telecom have disintegrated, following disagreements over the price and undefined prospects allowing Vivendi to obtain a majority stake. Vivendi was originally seeking a 32% to 35% stake with an estimated value of $2.5 bil to $3 bil.

Rome criticizes plans to revamp Telecom Italia: officials worry split could pave the way for non-Italian bids

Article Abstract:

Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi and other government ministers have criticized the planned restructuring of Telecom Italia S.p.A., fearing that it will open the door to a non-Italian acquisition. Telecom Italia chair Marco Tronchetti Provera plans to split the company into separate entities.
