Volkswagen takes aim at Toyota in U.S.: German auto maker to cut features to allow more-competitive prices

Article Abstract:

Volkswagen AG of Germany has announced aggressive sales plans for both US and global markets. Volkswagen will reduce prices on its US vehicles by eliminating unneeded features, aiming to sell 1 mil vehicles by 2018, in contrast to the total of 330,000 in 2006. Also, Volkswagen plans to introduce 12 new models to its global sales.

Porsche's road to growth has real hazards

Porsche AG of Germany plans to introduce an entire range of sporty vehicles including a four-door coupe. The high costs of development for the automobile and a hybrid engine caused the share price to decrease 4.65 percent. Porsche AG is traditionally a luxury automobile brand name.

Porsche pulls into hybrid lane: new engine developed with Volkswagen bucks move to diesel

Article Abstract:

Porsche AG and Volkswagen AG are developing a new electric-gasoline hybrid engine for Porsche's Cayenne sport-utility vehicle. The new engine is expected to reduce fuel consumption by almost a third, and will be marketable by 2010.
