EU Edges closer to harmonization of legal systems

The European Union (EU) will hold a summit to discuss streamlining criminal laws and penalties. The EU recently created uniform rules about drivers' licenses, and it hopes to create common strategies to fight drug trafficking, money laundering and other crimes while allowing member states to retain sovereignty.
