Attention, shoppers: Kmart to buy Sears for $11.5 billion

Successful Connecticut-based financier Edward Lampert has worked with Alan Lacy, chief executive officer of Sears, Roebuck and Co., to arrange the merger of Kmart Holding Corp. with Sears. The consolidation of the discount retailer with the department store chain is expected to propel the two companies back to their former positions as industry leaders.

Wal-Mart leaves South Korea by selling stores to local rival

Article Abstract:

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. of the United States divested it's 16 outlets in South Korea to Shinsegae Co. of South Korea for $872 million. Carrefour S.A. of France also divested its department stores in South Korea. International companies face a small group of family-owned conglomerates that control the economy in South Korea.
