Weird and wonderful

Article Abstract:

Technical advances have made it possible to produce white light from LEDs, further leading to development of organic LEDs (OLED), which are not only super-efficient and long lasting, but also flexible. OLEDs are light, bright and durable, particularly good for video playback, operate at a range of temperatures, and eventually may be used for larger scale effects such as curvaceous interior video walls and for making buildings glow from within.

Researchers have imbued molecules with intelligence

Article Abstract:

Fiction writers have long postulated the emergence of intelligent molecules a billionth of a metre in diameter, which determine their own shape to serve best their structural purpose. Further, the engineers have built a simulation imbuing molecules with a modicum of intelligence, which looks at the overall loading demands, or stress at that particular point and then adjust its form.

Products and prototypes

Article Abstract:

The introduction of digital techniques and innovative products has helped to improve the working pressures of architectures. The technology, large-format digital photography is one of the techniques that are applied to help architects capture and manipulate images of a building's structure and surface.
