Canada has seen an increase in immigration, which is shown in the diversity of the populations of Vancouver and Toronto. Diversity is celebrated in Canada, in contrast to the US. Sri Lanka, Pakistan and China are among the major sources of immigrants, and language diversity is seen as a strength for the economy, while racial tensions are low. There are costs involved in helping immigrants to settle, and they could become a controversial topic as pressure to cut taxes increases.
