Article Abstract:

Total revenues of outdoor advertising in Canadian reached C$200 million in 199, up by 10% from 1996. In contrast, overall growth of the advertising industry was 8.5%. Spending on outdoor advertising jumped by 79% since 1993, outpacing the overall advertising industry's growth rate of 19%. However, outdoor advertising accounts for only 2.5% of the total C$2.5 billion ad spending in Canada. The two biggest players in the Canadian outdoor ad market are Pattison and Mediacom, with 42.6% and 45.1% shares, respectively.

Mediacom inks $100M T.O. deal

Article Abstract:

Mediacom has signed a seven-year transit shelter deal with the City of Toronto with an estimated value of $100 million. The agreement, which will expire in 2007, will adapt the transit shelter contracts that were already in effect before the city's merger with other municipalities. Mediacom pres Brian McLean said the contract presents significant opportunities for their advertisers.
