Article Abstract:

Media Partners International plans a European soccer league. The company has approached three major soccer clubs in the largest European countries, suggesting that they take part and leave UEFA, which runs soccer across Europe. The clubs stand to make more money if they join Media Partners' venture, due to European TV rights. Pay-TV is developing in Europe, with soccer as the most important sport. The major clubs are becoming businesses, a trend which is most noticeable in the United Kingdom.
