Working with the best: Landscape architect Jennie Coe believes good design can only be achieved by working with the best creative architects

Article Abstract:

Landscape architect Jennie Coe joined HLM, becoming part of the landscape team, with input into major healthcare, housing and civic projects. She then spent time at the London Docklands Development Corporation, and set up on her own in 1988. She has derived much of her income from planting schemes for architects, and projects include the green walls for Apicella Associates' Adshel research centre. She has worked extensively in Cardiff Bay and is broadening her portfolio, by working with Richard MacCormac on a competition entry for a section of the Bristol waterfront.

'Just say no' to underfunded social-housing work

Article Abstract:

A report carried out by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA)recommended those involved in designing social housing should take a firm stance against poor quality and shoddy practices by refusing to take on work unless it comes up to the standards set out by the profession. A lack of funding reduces the quality of workmanship involved in social housing, therefore more money is required from both private and public sources.
