Yangtze River rebound

Article Abstract:

The re-emergence of Minsheng Shipping is an example of how a company in China has been able to return to operation after 32 years. The company had supported Chiang Kai-Shek in the early 1940s. This article provides a history of this company, how Lu Guoji brought the company back to life, the company's finances, and by extension, a glimpse of China's history and its economic transformation.

A clash between Crocodile, a Singapore men's wear company, and Fan Juanfen, the firm's Chinese general manager, triggered a blitz of lawsuits and led to a costly breakup. The organization had failed to closely monitor its foreign operation and also failed to recognize the implications of clashing with powerful Chinese management.
