Young engineers build success

Article Abstract:

The Fortune Information Technology Co has been successfully founded by three young engineers, Lau Hung Cheong, Peter Lau, and Jay Cheung, in Hong Kong The three engineers started the computer networking company with about $12,900 as capital. The company, which sells their products at a lower price than their rival firms, offers Internet home-page design, World Wide Web site domain registration as well as touch-screen computerized ordering-and-transaction system used in restaurants.

Search engines with character(s) give the Web a new look in Asia

Internet surfers searching for information related to Asia can choose from a wide selection of Asian-language search engines. With these tools, Web sites that are difficult to find using English-language search engines are now easier to locate. Among the Asian-language search engines currently available in the market are Yahoo! Japan, WhatSite!, Richina Search Engine and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology's Index Server.

Microsoft plays catch-up in PDA market

Microsoft Corp. is moving to gain ground in China's growing personal digital assistant market with the recent introduction of its Chinese Pocket PC operating system. However, the US-based software giant will face stiff competition from local vendors. China's personal digital assistant market is expected to total approximately 16.4 million units by 2005.
