Lincoln National Corp., the 10th-largest life insurer in the U.S, has reached a preliminary agreement with Ping An Insurance Co. on selling insurance in the mainland. Getting joint venture with Ping An Insurance, Lincoln become the third US insurer doing business in the mainland. Under the mainland's rule, insurance licences could be approved by having representative offices in China for 2 years, meeting capital requirements and other standards and forming joint ventures with mainland firms. China's life insurance premium was about US$3 per capita in 1996 and potential market value was enormous. Meanwhile, some insurance plans are fit to savings efforts that are popular among potential policy holders. *

China Star Entertainment Group will sign a contract for the exclusive right to distribute to China's TV stations a famous American children's TV show Sesame Street. The TV program will be specially created with Chinese dialects. Germany's EM TV & Merchandising has won a contract to become the exclusive cartoon supplier of Beijing Television Station. The German company will deliver programming in five days a week. In each day, at least one hour of the programming is delivered.
