Airline union gets new team for talks

Article Abstract:

Two of the four negotiators of the US Airways resigned in April 2004 following the removal of two negotiators by union leaders during a meeting held on April 9, 2004. During the meeting, top officials warned against the removal of negotiators considering that the US Airways wants to secure labor concessions through negotiations to compete with lower-cost rivals.

US Airways unions reject 23% pay cut

Article Abstract:

Labor unions at US Airways Group Inc. have begun a serious battle against the "emergency" 23 percent pay cut announced by the company. US Airways filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on 12 September 2004, the second filing in less than three years for the airline, which has about 27,000 employees nationwide, including 5,700 in the Philadelphia region.

Airline warns of labor-deal deadline

Article Abstract:

A labor-friendly approach would be taken, stated the top officers of US Airways Group Inc. as they negotiated the airline's survival plan. The financial requirements of a federal loan guarantee from the Air Transportation Stabilization Board can be met by the carrier if the new labor agreements are kept in place by September 2004.
