Verizon deal has majority approval

Article Abstract:

Verizon Communications announced it came to an agreement with the majority of its 87,000 striking employees , but workers in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware have not yet settled. A new contract was signed between two unions, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the New York and New England bargaining units of the Communications Workers of America, and 50,000 Verizon workers.

Back on job, Verizon workers face huge backlog of orders; during their strike, thousands of service requests piled up

Article Abstract:

After an 18-day strike, Verizon workers went back to work with a settlement that provides a 12% wage increase over 3 years and various other benefit improvements. During the strike, emergency repair services took priority. But one small business has filed a $75,0000 lawsuit because it waited for new service through the strike and was nearly forced out of business for lack of phone service.
