Comcast Wants Piece of AT&T. $58 billion bid offered for cable-Internet unit

Comcast went to AT&T's stockholders offering to buy the company's cable division for $58 billion in stock and assumed debt. AT&T executives stated that they are exploring the offer.

Comcast keeps costs under wraps

Article Abstract:

Comcast Corp and its complex finances faced new scrutiny when it bought AT&T Corp.'s cable systems to become the nation's biggest cable provider in 2002. The company sees no need to support its buoyant big-picture numbers by detailing basic expenses as marketing and programming cost, even though it used projected savings in those areas which help justify the %51 billion deal.

Comcast buying Greater Phila. Cablevision

Article Abstract:

Contingent upon the approval of the city of Philadelphia, Comcast Corp. will acquire Greater Philadelphia Cablevision Inc. from Greater Media Inc. Greater Media; will receive 4.2 million shares of Comcast stock worth around $270 million. The acquisition will give Comcast, one of the largest companies in Philadelphia, three-fourths of the city's cable subscribers.
