Entangled by trade embargo: A local torn between U.S. and foreign laws sues its law firm over its advice

Article Abstract:

The U.S. bans trade with Cuba while other nations make it a crime to obey the U.S. embargo in their countries. Bro-Tech Corporation set up by Broadie brothers sued the prestigious law firm of Morgan, Lewis and Bockious on the grounds that the firm provided them bad legal service for which they were charged with violating the Trading With the Enemy Act. But the law firm asserts that legal problem arouse because Broadie's did not follow the advice they were given.

SEC may sue over Wachovia stock dealings

Federal regulators are prepared to take action against the banking firm Wachovia Corp. and several executives regarding stock purchases and financial reports related to its 2001 merger with First Union Corp. The SEC's review focused on purchases of both Wachovia and First Union shares before the merger was completed.

A bequest or a breach of trust?

Carmen DiCesare had an account with Prudential Savings Bank at 19th Street and Snyder Avenue worth $700,000. The bank managers helped him to open a trust account with them as the beneficiaries, which are being questioned by the law.
