Fox & Roach acquires big competitor

Article Abstract:

Fox and Roach Realtors has acquired Prudential Preferred Properties, creating the area's largest independent real estate brokerage in sales volume. The new company is called Prudential Fox and Roach Realtors. The combined 1998 revenue of the two firms was almost $10 billion, that includes $6.7 billion in residential sales volume based on 33,800 transactions, and almost $3 billion in revenue from the companies mortgage, title and homeowner's insurance divisions. Fox and Roach has 40 offices in the region, and Prudential has 36. Some duplicate offices will be closed, but not in Center City, where there are four, three Prudential and one Fox and Roach.

AMR acquires TWA's assets

Article Abstract:

St. Louis, Missouri-based Trans World Airlines Inc., which has declared bankruptcy, has sold its assets to American Airlines Inc. Ft. Worth, Texas-based AMR Corp., which is the parent company of American Airlines, will operate TWA as an independent carrier.

US Airways reports a $30 million loss

US Airways Group Inc. announced yesterday that it lost $30 million in the third quarter. This is more than it expected, amid tough competition and fuel costs 75% higher than a year earlier.
