Genesis nursing home care is 'unpredictable,' union asserts

Article Abstract:

Genesis Health Ventures Inc. is criticized by the Service Employees International Union, a union that represents 100,000 nursing home workers, for its "inconsistent" and "unpredictable" service. The union, which inquired into Genesis' public records of state health inspections of nursing homes, contends that the company's service vary in quality. Genesis operates over 300 nursing homes in Philadelphia such as the Cobbs Creek Nursing Center in Southwest Philadelphia that was ordered for closure by the state Health Department in June 1998.
