Kvaerner reported selling its shipyards

Article Abstract:

Kvaerner Group, the European company planning to build a major new shipyard at the former Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, is to announce a major restructuring that could include the sale of all, or part, of its shipbuilding division. It is reported that a deal to buy Kvaerner's shipbuilding operations is on the table. Paul Tufano, the commonwealth of Pennsyvania's general counsel, said the government agreements with Kvaerner, signed in Dec. 1997, obligate the new buyer to continue with the $429 million, publicly funded project that is expected to employ more than 950 workers when completed.
