Interactive TV firm in Horsham to be sold

San Carlos, Calif.-based Liberate Technologies, which makes software for interactive television, will acquire Horsham, Penn.-based MoreCom Inc. for $561 million. MoreCom, which was founded in 1997 by former employees from General Instrument Corp. and Philips Consumer Electronics, offers Internet-based services for television broadcasting firms.

Deal to put WorldGate technology into advanced cable boxes

Article Abstract:

Trevose, Penn.-based WorldGate Communications Inc. has signed a contract with Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft Corp. The deal, in which WorldGate will install its advanced Internet television technology in Motorola Inc.'s cable-TV set-top boxes, was reached at the annual meeting of the National Cable Television Association.

V-Span acquires rival videoconferencing firm

Article Abstract:

King of Prussia, Penn.-based V-Span Inc., which is a videoconferencing company, has acquired Boulder, Colo.-based Peer Digital Inc. for undisclosed terms. The deal, which will create a merged company with approximately $42 million in annual revenues, will be headquartered in King of Prussia.
