Magellan is to cut therapy payments

Article Abstract:

Magellan Health Services Inc., which manages mental-health treatment for Blue Cross subscribers, addressed the managers of large psychological groups in January 2004, that there is a drop in the payments of therapy sessions with master's-trained counselors of about 11 percent, from $70 to $62. It later announced that it is expanding Blue Cross' network of therapists, which will provide Keystone patients access to about 3,000 therapists.

Nomadic 'travel nurses' fill shortages at hospitals

Article Abstract:

Hahnemann University Hospital is one of many local hospitals that must hire temporary nurses at a high rate of pay due to a national nursing shortage. Temporary nurses often receive subsidies and benefits, such as free rent and airline tickets, to fill in the worker gaps at hospitals.

Regional effort aims to reduce drug errors

Seventy-three hospitals situated in and around Philadelphia have launched an attempt to improve the safety of medication. The hospitals will work toward 16 safety objectives designed to reduce medication errors.
