Odd alliance for new tobacco

Article Abstract:

Vector Tobacco, which is a subsidiary of Miami, Fla.-based Vector Group Ltd., has formed an alliance with Amish farmers in Pennsylvania's Lancaster County to grow tobacco that will be used for the production of nicotine-free cigarettes. The tobacco will be grown from genetically modified seeds.

Philadelphia, Penn.-based Rohm and Haas Co. has issued a profit warning about its fourth-quarter earnings report. Rohm and Haas, which manufactures specialty chemicals, has been hurt by increasing energy costs and declining sales.
