Advanta studies sale of mortgage and leasing units

Spring House, Penn.-based Advanta Corp. will sell its mortgage and leasing operations while retaining its small business credit-card unit. Advanta, which has hired Salomon Smith Barney to advise the financial services company on its options, has reported total revenues of $572 million in 1999.

Pa. drug distributor acquiring Texas firm

Valley Forge, Penn.-based AmeriSource Health Corp., which is one of the largest pharmaceutical distributors in the United States, will acquire Dallas, Texas-based Pharmacy Healthcare Solutions for undisclosed terms. Pharmacy Healthcare, which is a hospital consultancy firm with 24 employees, reported sales of $1 million in 1999.

Penn National Gaming wagers on Miss. Casinos; the Wyomissing company has agreed to buy two gambling houses for $195 million

Article Abstract:

Hollywood Park Inc. of Glendale, California, sold two casinos to Wyomissing's Penn National Gambling for $195 million. Spending of another $30 million is planned for the renovation of the two, Casino Magic in Bay St. Louis and the Boomtown Biloxi in Biloxi. The company already owns racetracks and off-track betting establishments.
