Article Abstract:
Polygraphex has found novel uses for vinyl remnants from its outdoor advertising banners, using them in 1998 to build emergency relief shelters for those displaced by the hurricane in Honduras and in 1999 to assist refugees from the war in Yugoslavia. The comapny describes remnants from the printing process and outdated items such as sports banners as 'viable resources' that can be used as flooring or tents. It has tried several avenues so far to get the materials to Eastern Europe, but no government agency or relief organization has yet been able to help. Polygraphex executives say they are not giving up.

Size Does Matter to Keds

Keds, a division of footwear maker Stride Rite Corp, has dismissed advertising agency Foote, Cone & Belding (FCB) after three years and is contacting 10 other agencies in a search for a replacement. The company wanted a smaller shop that could focus more closely on modestly-sized accounts. FCB had reportedly laid off the director who managed the Keds account and assigned mostly male staffers to a brand bought primarily by women, but Keds denies that these were the reason for its dropping the agency, saying the firm wants a 'marketing partner' that will work with it closely.
