After years of stumbling, K-Tron is back on its feet

Article Abstract:

K-Tron International Inc. of Pitman, NJ, is a step nearer to becoming the leading maker of industrial feeders with record earnings for the second quarter of 1998 that is 46% higher compared to the second quarter of 1997. The company is back on its feet, posting improvements in 12 straight quarters, after struggling with losses and mounting debts. The return to profitability was engineered by chairman and chief executive, Edward B. Cloues, who used a simple short-term strategy that included growth mainly through cost cuts and new product launches.

Siemens to close Cherry Hill site; more than 300 will lose their jobs at the phone-equipment plant by year's end. Some could gain jobs in Florida

Article Abstract:

The telephone equipment manufacturing plant located in Cherry Hill, Pennsylvania will be closed by Siemens Information and Communication Networks Inc., the company announced. The decision, which will go into effect by the end of 1999, will result in the loss of more than 300 jobs. Siemens justifies the decision as a cost-cutting measure. Production will be moved from Cherry Hill to a facility in Florida, the company's home state.
