SpectaGuard expands with buyout of rival

Article Abstract:

King of Prussia, PA-based contract security firm SpectaGuard has acquired a White Plains,NY-based competitor Effective Security Systems. Terms of the move were not disclosed. SpectaGuard also acquired Effective's outsourcing company Effective Management Services. SpectaGuard's president William C. Whitmore said that the companies' will combine their workforces and close duplicate offices in North Jersey and Philadelphia.

Unisys plans to acquire PulsePoint

Article Abstract:

Unisys Corp. of Blue Bell PA has announce that it has agreed to acquire PulsePoint Communications of California. If the takeover is approved by PulsePoint's shareholders, the deal will be completed in the third quarter for approximately $100 million. The addition of PulsePoint's messaging technology could gain more customers for Unisys among small and medium-sized telecommunications companies.

Moyer Packing agrees to be sold

Article Abstract:

Souderton, Penn.-based Moyer Packing Co., which is a beef packing company, will be acquired by Smithfield, Va.-based Smithfield Foods Inc. for undisclosed terms. Moyer Packing, which is a family-owned business, has reported annual sales of almost $600 million.
