Sprinkler head recall ordered

Article Abstract:

Central Sprinkler Corp., a Lansdale, PA-based maker of fire suppression systems, has been ordered by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission to replace all of the 8.4 million Omega model fire sprinkler heads it manufactured. The federal agency's decision was based on findings that show the heads of Central Sprinkler's fire suppression devices failed to function properly in 17 fires since 1990, causing injuries and property damages amounting to over $4.3 million. Central Sprinkler stated it agreed to a recall and to a settlement of class-action lawsuits filed by Omega users across the US.
