Students as customers: finding the right niche

Article Abstract:

Lack of a thorough understanding of what students really need may result in producing academic programs that do not serve students. Schools exist to answer the needs of students and the best schools have a clear focus on what their students need. Schools should treat their students as customers so they can address a number of important issues. Some teachers think that a customer focus would produce a diluted curriculum that would rather please students than educate them. They have the wrong impression about what customer focus is all about.
