Technitrol lowers its earnings estimate

Technitrol Inc. which produces electronic components for technology companies, has said that it expects its 2001 earnings to be 385 lower than originally estimated. The shortfall is blamed on the slowdown in technology spending which began in December. The company's shares, which had peaked at $76.13 in September, closed at $25.16 on March 16.
