U.S. to file first WTO case against China

Article Abstract:

The Bush administration has filed the first World Trade Organization complaint against China's trade policies, alleging that the Chinese tax system favors domestic producers of semiconductors. China imposed a 17 percent tax on semiconductors, but it rebates up to 14 percent of that tax if the chips are made in China.

Pension funds face backlash

Companies and business organizations are making attempts that would dramatically change the nature of some funds, such as California's $182.8 Public Employees retirement System (CalPERS). The moves to change CalPERS policies exemplify how big business is fighting back against fund activism.

As mass-advertising tool, the fax could be history: Lawsuits reflect a general backlash against unsolicited ads

Article Abstract:

Unsolicited faxed advertisements have led to dozens of lawsuits and two major court rulings in 2003. The legal wrangling reflects a broader backlash against such advertising nuisances as recorded phone messages and telemarketing calls.
