A helping hand

Article Abstract:

Chartered Accountants Benevolent Association (CABA) assists those in need who are members of ICAEW or its processor, the old Society of Incorporated Accountants, and their wives, widows, children or dependants. Even though the helpline is not expensive to run, it relies on a large number of volunteers, the number of which is decreasing day by day.

Higgs starts to bite

Article Abstract:

Sir Derek Higgs was invited to review the role of non-executive directors and made sweeping recommendations. At first industry and then the profession applauded these changes, but when they finally worked out what they really meant, anger erupted and Higgs was forced to dilute his proposal.
