A new test of the relationship between regulatory change in financial markets and the stability of beta risk of depository institutions

Article Abstract:

The US banking and finance industry has experienced major changes in terms of regulations from 1980 to 1991 due to the approval of five major acts. Various studies have been made to determine the impact of the changes in terms of the reaction of stock market, effects on market value, risks, and the profitability of bank stocks. The regulatory changes caused a major impact in the industry but they are not uniform in every depository institution.
