A noted on the location choice of multinational banks: the case of Japanese financial institutions

Article Abstract:

A comparison of the location choice behavior of US and Japanese financial services institutions showed that while both follow the investments and locations of their respective manufacturing sectors, Japanese financial services institutions also take into consideration the opportunities present in the host country to make their location decision. While the first option in location behavior takes into account the need of the financial services firms to service a sure pool of customers, the second location behavior factor exhibited by the Japanese financial services firms shows the move of the sector towards internationalization.
