Ad agencies forming alliances to gain talent, clients

Article Abstract:

Different advertising agencies continuously merge and engage in joint ventures to obtain new facilities, talents and geographical representation. Managing director Alan J. Gottesman of West End Communications/Consulting stated that mergers, acquisitions and consolidations between advertising firms is a necessity for the success of the industry. Among the agencies that formed a partnership were Media That Works, Sacramento, CA's Newspaper Network and Williams Worldwide of Santa Monica. The joint venture is called the MTW Media Group.

CANADIAN FIRM BUILDS STABLE OF AGENCIES: MDC ACQUIRES COLLE & MCVOY STAKE TO EXPAND MULTINATIONAL HOLDINGS

Article Abstract:

Colle and McVoy Inc (Minneapolis, MN) has joined MDC Communications Corp (Toronto, Ontario). MDC paid $19 million for 80% of Colle and McVoy, which expects revenues of $25 million for 1999. Colle and McVoy management will keep its 20% interest, as part of an attempt to insure that key employees and accounts will remain at the business-to-business agency. MDC plans eventually to take Colle and McVoy public, but otherwise plans a hands-off management approach.

Hensley Segal Rentschler was named 1997 Business-to-Business Agency of the Year because it can integrate innovative new media with other advertising and marketing communications sectors. The agency received the title in 1994 because of its leadership in new media. The company is a market leader in the electronic commerce field.
