Adding values

Article Abstract:

Accounting firms have often added on IT specialists, and there are issues such as the Year 2000 computer transition problem, which cause concern, but these issues also represent opportunities for companies in Manchester, Engalnd. Companies should know their limits, and smaller accounting firms have difficulties in distinguishing between consultancy work and ongoing support. Companies may offer a range of services which may include IT risk management, marketing and human resources, with central coordination of these services seen as an advantage.

Expert witnesses

Article Abstract:

Forensic accounting is a growth area in Manchester, England. The term relates to presentation of evidence on financial issues in courts of law. The sector has grown as litigation has increased in areas like professional negligence and personal injury. A large number of companies offer forensic accounting services though critics argue that they do not all have enough experience. Accountants have to be able to perform well as witnesses in order to carry out this work successfully.

Accountants gain from banks' withdrawal

Article Abstract:

The major six UK accounting firms dominate the West Midlands region of England. Merchant banks are retreating from the region which has left more space for accounting firms to operate. Auditing accounts for a decreasing proportion of the income of accounting firms, which are also involved in acquisitions and mergers and buy-outs. Birmingham accounts for most major transactions and the big accounting firms work from bases in the center of the city, near the law firms.
