Agfa Division, Bayer Corp

Article Abstract:

Agfa Photo Imaging Systems President Hans Kuhlmann said the firm showed extraordinary results with a 7% growth in sales to $4.4 billion (DM 8 billion) in 1997 compared to 1996. In terms of operations, close to 100% improvement was reported to DM 480 million in 1997 compared to DM 243 million in 1996. Kuhlman said the goal of a 6% increase on return on sales from the 3.3% increase achieved in 1996 was accomplished in 1997, which was one year ahead of the target date. Success marked 1997 as sales for photographic products grew 8% to DM 2.5 billion compared to the previous year. Added to this is the record sale of some 400 million rolls of film.

Index prints for 35mm

Article Abstract:

Advanced Photo System (APS), a silver-halide film cartridge, is becoming popular among French photo retailers. This is because APS offers better storage of negatives than with the 35mm films. One of such retailers is Photo Service, which faces some technical and technological problems that slow down the delivery of index prints to all outlets. Currently, only 10% of Photo Service's sites are providing index prints to 35mm users.

Paper processor basics

Article Abstract:

Operators should maximize the use of paper processors. To avoid poor results, it is best to evaluate the process parameters first by studying the manufacturer's original specs. Aside from regular cleaning, paper processors must be free of scratches, picks or marks. Operators can also avoid paper jams and transport problems by ensuring that the leading edge of the paper is straight.
