Analysis of the Korean beef market: a study of hotel buyers' perspectives of beef imports from three major sources

Article Abstract:

A study on the beef imports from hotels in Korea showed that the US dominates the grain-fed beef sector and has already established a national brand presence in this category. Beef exporters from Australia, originally aiming at the general retail category with grass-fed beef, are planning to penetrate the grain-fed sector. Canadian exporters, currently targeting the grain-fed sector, have yet to obtain customer value in the hotel sector. Hotel respondents deem as wanting the food safety standards and supply of variety cuts from Canada.

The effect of buyer concentration on prices in the Australian wool market

Article Abstract:

A theoretical model of the Australian wool market maintained the assumption that enlarged buyer concentration favors a structure wherein there are a few large firms encompassed by a crowd of competitive small companies. This kind of structure should appeal to wool growers as it is inclined to foster efficiency and prohibit considerable monopsonistic rent seeking. Smaller companies provide the kind of competition that will deter under-pricing by large companies.
