Apple shows the bruises

Article Abstract:

Apple Computer could shed as much as 40% of the company's 11,000 employees as part of a restructuring process, according to press reports. The company has not confirmed these reports but agrees that costs have to be cut. Apple's share price has not performed well, and many senior management staff have left the company. A loss was reported for Oct 1996 to Dec 1996 and an expected rise in sales prior to Christmas 1996 did not occur. Sales tend to be low in the early part of the year, so no improvement is expected for the following quarter.
