Artificial cell-cell communication in yeast saccharomyces cerevisiae using signaling elements from Arabidopsis thaliana

Article Abstract:

The two artificial cell-cell communication systems in yeast is developed and analyzed and further Arabidopsis thaliana signal synthesis and receptor components are integrated with yeast endogenous protein phosphorylation elements and new response promoters. The combined experimental work and mathematical modeling of these systems can benefit various biotechnology applications for yeast and higher-level eukaryotes including fermentation processes and biomaterial fabrication.

Expression of artificial microRNAs in transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana confers virus resistance

Article Abstract:

An Arabidopsis thaliana miR159 precursor is modified to express artificial miRNAs (amiRNAs) targeting viral mRNA sequences encoding two gene silencing suppressors, P69 of turnip yellow mosaic virus and HC-Pro of turnip mosaic virus. This kind of amiRNA-mediated approach has broad applicability for engineering multiple virus resistance in crop plants.

Genomic scale profiling of nutrient and trace elements in Arabidopsis thaliana

Article Abstract:

The use of mineral nutrient and trace element profiling as a tool to determine the biological significance of connections between a plant's genome and its elemental profile is described. It is estimated that 2-4 percent of Arabidopsis thaliana genome is involved in regulating the plant's nutrient and trace element content.
