Article Abstract:

The planned acquisition of Coulter Corp. has triggered a price drop in its stock price which plummeted from $50 to the current level of $40. Despite the plunge, four executives continued to acquire more shares. Director Francis Lucier exercised his Non-Qualified options for 7,000 shares while Julian Steffenhagen, VP for Corporate Planning and Business Development, bought 8,450 shares. CFO Dennis Wilson and Director Gavin Herbert both acquired 1,000 shares.

Toys 'R' Us - TOY

Article Abstract:

Insider trading activities at Toys 'R' Us has dramatically increased since May, 1997. A total of 1,242,729 shares of stock, were sold by seven insiders who exercised their options. Of this figure, 1,044,774 were disposed where 576,948 shares went back to the firm transaction costs while 467,826 shares were sold in the open market. The insider trading for 1997 has far outdistanced the transactions from May to Nov. 1996 where 475,000 shares were distributed.

Is liquidity becoming an issue?

Article Abstract:

Prices of stocks that have been monitored for heavy insider selling are declining further in a sign of the stock market's instability. Technology-related stocks particularly have been hardest hit by the declining prices. The bleak outlook for technology issues can be attributed to growing liquidity, which, in turn, has been affected by reduced research efforts.
